Meet Lauren BrynjelsenLauren Brynjelsen is the author of I Learned It Through the Grapevine and the founder of One Life Kitchen in Barrington, Illinois.
While her background blends interests in cooking, nutrition, and fitness, Lauren’s true passion lies in the "human element" of transformation. Her debut book serves as the bridge between her culinary expertise and her deep-seated belief that we only have "one life" to make our best. By weaving together viticulture insights and honest anecdotes, she invites readers to see their own journey of change reflected in the rhythm of the vineyard.
Though she is largely self-taught in the kitchen, she has refined her approach through private and group culinary classes and dinners, wine-tasting, and celebrity-chef workshops—always emphasizing simplicity, good taste, and nourishing both body and soul.
Through both her writing and her business, Lauren remains a steadfast advocate for community. She uses her platform to inspire others, especially those navigating midlife transitions, to embrace growth, trust the seasons of pruning, and celebrate the fruitful life that awaits.
When she’s not at One Life Kitchen, Lauren enjoys volunteering, playing the piano, traveling, and reading. She lives in the Chicagoland area with her husband, Sean, and together they are proud parents of five adult children.
